I am taking prescribed medication. Can I take
herbs?
Yes, however some herbs are contraindicated with prescription
medication, including the oral contraceptive pill. For this reason,
it is wise to have herbal medicines prescribed by a qualified
practitioner.
I
am pregnant / breast feeding. Will herbs / nutrients affect my
baby?
Yes, some naturopathic medicines (herbs and nutrients) will affect
your baby (this can be a positive or a negative thing). For this
reason, they should always be prescribed by a qualified
practitioner.
I
have cancer / HIV / AIDS / a terminal illness. Can naturopathy
benefit me?
Yes. Naturopathy cannot treat a terminal illness however it can
help to support you through the difficult times. Natural medicine
can often be effective in giving symptomatic relief throughout
these illnesses, though it will not provide a cure.
Will
I have to take loads of expensive
medications?
Stephanie considers that her role is to get you off medications,
rather than have you popping loads of pills. Whilst you may need to
take a prescription initially, the aim is to get the body to a
place where it can carry on without this assistance.
Will
I have to go on a strict diet, such as eliminating wheat / dairy /
coffee / alcohol?
This depends on you! Sometimes it is recommended to try an
elimination diet, which involves avoiding a certain food for a
pre-determined period of time. Stephanie understands that there is
more to food than just nutrition and has even been known to have a
coffee and a beer herself! When discussing dietary changes, she
will work with you to develop an eating regime that fits in with
your lifestyle.
How
many appointments will I need for
treatment?
This depends on each individual case. Typically, it can be
anticipated that you would need 2 appointments in the first month
and then potentially 1 appointment per month thereafter. The number
of appointments needed will be determined by the severity &
complexity of your case, combined with the way your body reacts to
treatment.
Can
Stephanie organise a detox / weight loss program for
me?
Yes! Stephanie believes that such programs achieve best results
when they are custom made for the individual. After a full
consultation, a program can be designed that suits your individual
needs and lifestyle
Will
my information be kept confidential?
Yes. By law, all information given in the consultation must remain
confidential. Your case notes are kept locked away at all times and
will not be divulged to another individual, unless your consent is
given.
